Kid sizes to women’s shoe size is a lookup (also searched as kids shoe size to women): enter a kids’, women’s or men’s size and this page shows the matching US sizes for the other two. It uses the big-kid rows of Nike’s Big Kids footwear table, which cover kids 1Y to 7Y, so you can convert kids to women’s shoe size, women’s shoe size to kids, or men’s sizes as well.

How to use the kids shoe size to women’s converter

1. Open the “Convert from” menu and choose “Kids’ (youth) size”, “Women’s size” or “Men’s size”.
2. In “Shoe size”, type a whole or half size, such as 5, 6.5 or 5Y. A Y after a kids’ size is optional, as in 5Y.
3. Or click a preset instead: “Kids 5Y”, “Kids 6Y”, “Kids 3.5Y”, “Women’s 7” or “Men’s 4”.
4. Read the three results: “US women’s size”, “US men’s size” and “US kids’ (big kid) size”.
5. Scroll to “The whole big-kid conversion table” and find the row marked “Your row” to check the sizes beside yours.
6. If you see an error, read the range it names. A size outside that range has no row in the table.
7. Under the result, open “How it was calculated” to see which row of the table your size sits in.
8. To go the other way, such as women’s shoe size to kids, set “Convert from” to “Women’s size” and type the women’s size.

What is a size 6 kid in women’s shoes?

A size 6 big kid (6Y) is a women’s size 7.5, and a men’s size 6, according to the table. The table prints each women’s size as the kids’ size plus 1.5, and each men’s size as the same number as the kids’ size.

This tool follows those printed rows and does not estimate between them. Half sizes work: 6.5Y converts to women’s 8. The answer is limited to the rows the table contains. Little-kid and toddler sizes, called C sizes, are not in this table, so they are not converted.

What is a size 5 big kid in women’s shoes?

A size 5 big kid (5Y) is a women’s size 6.5, and a men’s size 5. The same plus 1.5 rule applies, so 5Y and women’s 6.5 describe the same big-kid row.

The rule also works in reverse. Women’s 7 is kids 5.5Y and men’s 5.5, and men’s 3.5 is kids 3.5Y and women’s 5. Each column has its own range: kids 1 to 7, women’s 2.5 to 8.5, and men’s 1 to 7. Sizes outside those ranges get an error, such as kids 8, women’s 2 or men’s 0.5. Quarter sizes like 5.25 are rejected. Sizes 6.5Y and 7Y show a note that they sit at the top of the youth range.

How do the kids’, women’s and men’s sizes line up?

The three rows of the table move in step. Each half size up in the kids’ row moves the women’s and men’s rows up by half a size as well, so the gaps never change. Kids 1Y sits with women’s 2.5 and men’s 1, and kids 7Y sits with women’s 8.5 and men’s 7. That gives 13 rows in all, from 1Y to 7Y.

To convert a women’s size to kids by hand, subtract 1.5: women’s 8.5 is kids 7Y, and women’s 3 is kids 1.5Y. To convert a kids’ size to women’s, add 1.5. The tool does the same lookup for you and also shows the men’s size, which is the same number as the kids’ size in this table.

Frequently asked questions

Is a kids’ size 6 the same as a women’s size 6?

No. In the big-kid table, kids 6Y is women’s 7.5, so the women’s size is 1.5 higher than the kids’ size.

Does this tool convert toddler or little-kid sizes?

No. Little-kid and toddler sizes (C sizes) are not in the table, so they are not converted. Only big-kid sizes from 1Y to 7Y are answered.

Why does my size show an error?

The size is either outside the range for its column or it is a quarter size. The error names the range, for example kids 1 to 7, women’s 2.5 to 8.5 or men’s 1 to 7.

Will the result match every brand’s shoes?

Not always. The tool uses one brand’s chart, and the page warns that other brands cut their lasts differently. Check the brand’s own size chart before you order.
